The race

Hi, friends:  Unfortunately we’ve had to cancel the race due to too much open water on the race trail.  Many thanks for your interest!

The Runaway Jim 180 is a 179-mile dogsled race in Alaska’s White Mountains, starting January 8, 2018.

The White Mountains in interior Alaska have a well-deserved reputation of being spectacular, and sometimes challenging. The trail goes above treeline through Cache Mountain Divide and can blow-in while you watch it. Overflow is common. It will be cold. It will be dark. The hills are long and just keep coming. It will be amazing!! Come on out and enjoy Interior Alaska mushing at its finest.

Many thanks to the Fairbanks District Office of the Bureau of Land Management for making their trails available to us!
Mushers: the BLM is concerned about keeping the trails tidy, and so are we!  You’d be doing them, us, and the White Mountains a solid if you can clean up your straw if you’re camping on the trails or at the cabins while training.  Many thanks!
